Sacred Heart of Jesus

The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be celebrated this year on June 8. Click here to find out why it is a different date each year. The feast celebrates the great love that Christ has for each one of us. It is very important in our diocese as our Cathedral is Sacred Heart. It is also a day near to my heart as I was ordained in Sacred Heart Cathedral, on the feast of the Sacred Heart.

In the Catholic tradition we pray novenas (9 days of prayer) leading up to great celebrations as a way of preparing our hearts to be open to the many graces and answered prayers that Christ has for us. The Novena to the Sacred Heart this year begins on Thursday May 31st, which is the feast of the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth. What a great way to begin this Novena!

You can find many novenas online. The one I use is Pray More Novenas.

Our Mass schedule here in the parishes for the Friday feast is:

Arborfield care home: 10am

Zenon Park: Adoration – 6pm Mass – 7pm

Fr. Matthew Nguyen, rector of the Cathedral, sent a very nice letter out to mark the occasion as well! You can read it here.
